Direct Billing Counselling: We Handle the Paperwork, So You Can Focus on Healing

Getting help should be simple.

You’ve made the decision to start therapy. Insurance paperwork should not be the thing that slows you down.

At Sigpark Counselling, we offer direct billing through the TELUS eClaims system for many major insurance providers, including Pacific Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross (including IFHP, VAC, CAF, and RCMP programs), and Sun Life through Lumino Health, along with other select providers.

That means less stress, fewer out-of-pocket costs, and no waiting weeks for reimbursement.

Whether you’re accessing counselling through an employee benefits plan or a federal program, we’ll guide you through the process and submit your claim directly to your insurer.

No forms. No back-and-forth. No hassle.

If you’re unsure whether your plan qualifies, we’ll help you find out during your free consultation.

Who We Direct Bill For

At Sigpark Counselling, we partner with trusted insurance providers to reduce financial barriers to care and make counselling easier to access.

We offer direct billing through the TELUS eClaims system, which allows us to securely submit claims to many major Canadian insurance providers. When direct billing is available, you only pay the portion your plan does not cover, if anything at all.

We currently offer direct billing for many plans, including:

Pacific Blue Cross

One of British Columbia’s most common extended health providers. If your coverage is through work, school, or a spouse’s plan, you may be eligible for direct billing.

Medavie Blue Cross

We provide direct billing for several Medavie-administered programs, including:

  • Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
  • Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
  • Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
  • Select Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)

If you’re part of one of these programs, counselling may be fully or partially covered.

Sun Life through Lumino Health

Clients covered by Sun Life may be eligible for direct billing through the Lumino Health provider network.

Don’t see your provider listed?

If your plan does not support direct billing, we will still provide a detailed receipt after each session so you can submit it for reimbursement through your insurer.

How Direct Billing Works

If you’ve ever delayed booking counselling because of insurance paperwork or uncertainty around coverage, you’re not alone.

That’s exactly why we offer direct billing. Our goal is to make therapy as accessible and low stress as possible from the moment you reach out.

Here’s how simple the process is.

Step by Step: What to Expect

1. Book your free 15 minute consultation During this no pressure conversation, we’ll ask who your insurance provider is and let you know whether direct billing is available. We can also help you check your plan’s specific coverage and explain what to expect before your first session.

2. Provide your insurance details
Before your first appointment, you’ll be asked to share your insurance card or policy information. If you’re using an Employee Assistance Program or a Medavie administered program, we’ll also confirm whether a referral or authorization is required.

3. We submit the claim on your behalf
After each session, we handle the paperwork and submit the claim directly through TELUS eClaims. You’re only responsible for any portion your plan does not cover, if anything at all.

Many clients pay nothing at the time of their session. Others may only have a small co pay.

Direct Billing for Online Therapy Too

Prefer virtual appointments? Direct billing works the same way for online counselling. Whether you’re meeting in person or through secure video sessions, claims are submitted using the same encrypted, privacy-compliant system.

Still Unsure About Your Coverage?

We’ve helped many clients navigate their insurance plans, even the confusing ones. If you’re not sure whether your plan supports direct billing, we’ll walk you through it step by step and clarify anything that’s unclear.

Let us take the guesswork out of your insurance.

Why Clients Love Our Direct Billing Option

We’ve heard it again and again from clients:

“This made it so much easier to finally start therapy.”

Direct billing isn’t just about skipping paperwork; it’s about removing one more barrier between you and the support you need.

When life feels heavy, the last thing you want is to deal with phone calls to your insurance provider or long reimbursement delays. That’s why Sigpark Counselling’s direct billing option is one of the most appreciated services we offer.

What Our Clients Appreciate:

  • No up-front costs (in many cases, your plan covers 100% of the session)
  • No forms to fill out or submit
  • No waiting weeks for reimbursement
  • Clear, transparent pricing — you’ll always know what to expect
  • We do the follow-up — if there’s a claim issue, we contact your provider

We’ve designed this process to be as smooth, private, and respectful as possible—especially for first-time clients, immigrants unfamiliar with Canadian healthcare systems, and busy professionals who don’t have time for red tape.

Client Feedback:

“As a newcomer to Canada, I wasn’t sure how insurance worked. Having the option to direct bill made all the difference. I didn’t have to navigate the system alone.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Direct Billing for Counselling

We get it, insurance can feel complicated.
That’s why we’ve made it our job to help you navigate it. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often from clients just like you.

Direct billing means we submit the invoice for your counselling session directly to your insurance provider. You don’t have to pay upfront and wait weeks for reimbursement; you only pay the portion your plan doesn’t cover, if anything.

It’s a simple way to access the care you need without added financial stress or delays.

We offer direct billing through the TELUS eClaims system, which allows us to submit claims securely to many major Canadian insurance providers.

This currently includes plans from:

  • Pacific Blue Cross
  • Medavie Blue Cross, including coverage for:

    • Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
      Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
      Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
      Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
    • Select Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
  • Sun Life through Lumino Health
  • Other insurers supported through TELUS eClaims, such as Canada Life, Manulife, Desjardins, ClaimSecure, GroupHEALTH, and Industrial Alliance

If your provider does not support direct billing, we will still provide a detailed receipt so you can submit it to your insurer for reimbursement.

Not a problem. If your plan covers a portion of the session, we’ll bill that directly and let you know ahead of time what your co-pay will be, usually a small difference.

Example: If your session is $150 and your provider covers $120, you’ll only pay $30.
And yes, you’ll get a receipt for that, too.

Just ask. We offer a free 15-minute consultation where we’ll help you check your plan and verify if direct billing is available.

We may ask for:

  • Your insurance provider’s name
  • Your member ID or policy number

If you’re using an EAP or a Medavie-administered program, a referral or authorization may be required. We’ll let you know exactly what’s needed and guide you through the process.

Yes. Whether you meet with your therapist in person or through secure video counselling, direct billing works the same way. No added steps or complications.

That depends on your plan. Some Medavie programs (like CAF or VAC) and EAPs may require a referral or pre-authorization. If this applies to you, we’ll let you know exactly what’s needed and help you get it.

For Pacific Blue Cross and most standard extended health plans, no referral is needed.

Yes. You’ll receive a digital receipt after each session, regardless of how it’s paid. If your insurance only covers part of the cost, the receipt will include the breakdown of what was covered and what you paid.

While this page focuses on direct billing, we understand that therapy is an investment. If you’re not covered under any plan, you can still inquire about our sliding scale or lower-cost counselling options based on availability.

Reach out during your free consult, we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

Absolutely. We use encrypted, secure systems that comply with PIPA and PIPEDA standards to protect your personal and insurance data. Your privacy is always a top priority at Sigpark Counselling.
